Adult Autism Assessment
Adult Autism (ASD) Assessment in Dubai — DISCO Trained
A thorough, dignified adult autism assessment with a UK-trained consultant psychiatrist at Dubai Healthcare City. Structured DISCO interview, confidential diagnostic report.

A proper adult autism assessment — not a checklist
Many adults in the UAE spend years wondering whether they might be autistic — often after a child, sibling or partner is diagnosed, or after decades of masking, burnout and social exhaustion. A short online quiz can hint, but it cannot diagnose. What you need is a full clinical assessment carried out by a psychiatrist trained in adult autism.
Dr. Indira Priyadarshini is a UK-trained consultant psychiatrist with specialist training in the DISCO (Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders) — one of the internationally recognised gold-standard tools for adult autism diagnosis.
What the assessment includes
- Detailed developmental history from childhood to the present day
- Structured DISCO interview (Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders)
- Screening for co-occurring ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD and sensory difficulties
- Review of school, work, relationships and daily functioning
- Written diagnostic report suitable for GPs, employers, universities and insurers (with your consent)
- Personalised recommendations — reasonable adjustments, therapy, support strategies
- Follow-up psychiatric support and, where appropriate, treatment of co-existing conditions
Autism, ADHD or both?
Adult ADHD and autism often overlap, and each can look like the other. Where useful, the assessment includes screening for co-occurring ADHD, anxiety, OCD and mood conditions — so you leave with a full picture, not a single label.
If ADHD is more likely, see Adult ADHD Assessment in Dubai.
Frequently asked questions
Can adults really be assessed for autism?
Yes. Many adults reach midlife before they consider an autism assessment — often after their child is diagnosed, or after years of anxiety, burnout or social exhaustion. A proper adult assessment looks at your entire life history, not just how you present in one appointment.
What is the DISCO interview?
The Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders (DISCO) is a structured, internationally recognised tool developed at the UK's National Autistic Society. It gathers a detailed picture of development, social communication, sensory experience and behaviour across the lifespan, and is one of the gold-standard tools for adult autism diagnosis.
Who carries out the assessment?
Dr. Indira Priyadarshini, our UK-trained consultant psychiatrist, has completed specialist DISCO training and holds MRCPsych, PGDip in Psychological Medicine and CCT in General Adult Psychiatry from the UK.
How many sessions does the assessment take?
Usually two to three appointments — an initial clinical assessment, the DISCO interview (which is longer), and a feedback session to discuss the outcome and the written report.
Will I receive a written diagnostic report?
Yes. You receive a detailed written report you can share with your GP, employer, university or insurer — only with your explicit consent. Nothing is shared without your permission.
Is autism assessment confidential?
Absolutely. Your records are not shared with employers, immigration or family members without your written consent.
