About Dr. Indira Priyadarshini
Dr. Indira Priyadarshini is a UK-trained Consultant Psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience in psychiatry, having worked in the specialty since 2004. She has 14 years of experience within the United Kingdom's NHS and has been practising in the United Arab Emirates since 2018.
She graduated with an MBBS from Mysore University (2000) and subsequently completed her specialist psychiatric training, obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Medicine from Cardiff University (2008), Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2015, and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Adult Psychiatry from the United Kingdom in 2018.
Dr. Priyadarshini has been a Section 12 Approved Doctor under the UK Mental Health Act since 2013, a designation awarded to psychiatrists with recognised expertise in the assessment and treatment of mental disorders and the application of mental health legislation. Throughout her career, she has developed extensive expertise in the assessment and management of a broad range of adult mental health disorders across inpatient, outpatient, community, and crisis services, alongside a strong commitment to multidisciplinary working, clinical governance, teaching, and service development.
She provides comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment for adults experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions — including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD, stress-related conditions, personality disorders, and psychosis.
Dr. Priyadarshini has a special interest in Adult ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessment, and has completed specialist training in the Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders (DISCO) — one of the internationally recognised gold-standard tools for adult autism diagnosis. Her clinical experience also includes liaison psychiatry (mental health alongside physical illness) and the assessment and management of dementia and other conditions affecting older adults.
Throughout her NHS career she held senior clinical and leadership roles — leading multidisciplinary teams, developing psychiatric services, teaching medical students and psychiatry trainees, and contributing to clinical research, quality improvement projects and national audits. She practises a compassionate, patient-centred, biopsychosocial approach: every treatment plan is individually tailored and combines evidence-based psychiatry with empathy, collaboration and respect for each patient's unique needs.
She sees patients in-clinic at Dubai Healthcare City and via DHA-approved secure online psychiatry consultations.
